How to Winterize Your Outboard Boat Motor

How To: Step by Step

  1. Add fuel stabilizer.
    The key purpose of fuel stabilizer is that it assists the engine in getting started come spring. The reason why fuel stabilizer is so necessary is that old gasoline is ineffective. As gasoline gets older, it burns fuel significantly less efficiently and can become waterlogged.

  2. Navigate through to winterize mode and click the button Winterize Engine
  3. The winterization process will engage itself
    a. The engine will double oil itself
        b. The engine will run for 90 seconds and then shut itself off
  4. Check to make sure the propeller is free of any device that may be wrapped around it
